Windows will not generally not indicate any problems with mouse detection. There is a known compatibility problem with some older computers and mouse combination. For example, Logitech's two-button First Mouse (e.g., version M/N:M34) is reported to suffer from this type of trouble on some Packard Bell systems. You can use the keyboard to invoke a basic work-around under Window 9x/Me.
Follow these steps :
- Press CTRL+ESC to open the Start menu.
- Use the arrow keys to highlight Settings, then Control Panel, and press ENTER.
- Move the arrow key over to the Mouse icon and press ENTER. This will open the Mouse Properties dialog box.
- Using the TAB key, tab over to the Quick Setup tab, and then use the RIGHT ARROW key to open the Devices tab.
- On the Devices tab, tab over to the Add Mouse button and press ENTER.
